Formula one’s top five names

The magic of formula one continues to grow from strength to strength and soon there are possibilities that the sky may finally become the limit for this angry wheels world. However , before I knew anything about racing there were names that kept a mark in my mind and such names some of them have remained till today and some have since gone and in this hub I look at the magic names of today’s formula one. This is from my knowledge and judgment but many will agree with me in some areas as the names are clear to everyone.

Scuderia Ferrari  

I once heard some big person in the formula one world say there can’t be formula one without Ferrari. It one of the biggest teams in the history of the game. Having been around since 1929, the team has participated in over 800 races in formula one. Its headquarters are situated in Maranello, Italy and the team Principal in Stephano Domenicali. It is known for the color red and its logo depicting a prancing horse.

In its history Ferrari has taken part in 802 races winning 211, taking 203 poles and achieving 220 fastest laps in all. It is a team rich with passion for winning as manifested by their aggressive push towards the front each and season. They have developed some talent and have also been associated with some successful names in the racing world like Ross Brawn and Michael Shumaker. The team enjoyed success before restrictive rules on costs containment that saw them being forced to wear a small shoe. However history has continued to be the inspire for the Prancing Horse as despite the restrictions the team has continued to perform above average.

Every time Ferrari is mentioned, one voice or two always add Michael in the mix. He is worldly known as the Champion, a man who drove with anger and winning for years with different team also. That shows a true talent. Michael was born on 3 January 1969 and has taken part in 259 races grabbing pole 68 times whilst winning in 91 attempts. He has been on the podium 154 during his career until he took an early leave at the end of the 2006 season.

He is a seven times world champion, a feat not yet been repeated. His only legacy is not only confined to the winning side only but he was also known as a man who would do everything to win hence his brush with controversy here and there.

After retiring at the end of 2006 he came back to the grid in 2010 now racing for Ross Brawn after a reunion with former boss Ross Brawn. Their partnership evokes successful memories and this must have been in Brawn mind when he brought the old gunman back to the fold. Shumi as he is widely known is a legend of Formula one and a role model indeed.

Bernie the “Supremo” is a charismatic sport Entrepreneur who was born 30 October 1930 and is worth some 1.466 billion Pounds as of 2009(estimated)

He is the CEO of F1 Management and f1 Administration. Bernie is widely referred to as the F1 Supremo a title he picked from years of successfully working in the Formula one world.

Redbull Racing

Redbull are not known for their history but their present form. This team has continued to make strides against all odds challenging the so called big guns of formula one. They are a team who has completed some 98 races winning 13 times managing 4 fast laps. Their team Principal is Christian Horner and he has made this outfit a competitive one.  In the 2010 season they came to the grid in Bahrain with a faster car than everyone and they have been a headache to their rivals ever since. Their drivers are Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel

Today they are a magic name because of their performance and ability to take on the big guns head on.

Ross Brawn  

Ross Brawn is Mercesedes GP team principal who has won so many titles with Ferrari and Benetton together with Shumaker. He is known as a firebrand leader who takes to his job with shrewdness never seen in racing. Although he had won so much with Ferrari and Benetton, he made his name as a magic name with Brawn GP in 2009 a team he owned and ran.

Brawn GP won the drivers and constructor’s titles in 2009 and the leadership of Ross. He was born 23 November 1954 and is British.
